TWIGs Bike Mechanics Nights

Trans*, Women, Intersex, and Gender-non-conforming Wrench Nights meets the 3rd Monday of every month at Bike Uptown from 6-9pm. This time is reserved to host practical bike safety & mechanics lessons that can be performed with basic tools at home or even on-the-road. The power of knowing bike mechanics is infinite! 

Opening Night: Bike 101 & Fix-a-Flat
Doors open at 6:00 & class starts at 6:15 sharp. In this first class we will be focussing on Bike Anatomy! Simply learning the names of the parts of a the bicycle is powerful. You will also be taught the ABCD Quick Check, which is a daily routine that can be performed quickly on your bike so that you prevent any bike issues. Finally, we will spend the great part of the class learning how to Fix-A-Flat tire.
Instructor:
Rio (jill contreras) has been an avid cyclist since 2002. They have taught bike mechanics to over 7,000 people of all ages and in spanish as well. Rio has been on over 5,000 miles of bike touring often being the main mechanic on the trips. Their bike mechanics skills have been learned through experience and learning from other amazing mechanics. Rio's mechanics skills is focussed on what can be done feasibly and easily at home and how to prevent major issues. 
No experience necessary. This is a free workshop.
