LB Roundtable at Bike Uptown

You are invited to the Long Beach Bike Round Table sponsored by BIKEable Communities next Wednesday Feb 24 at 6:30 PM at the new Bike Uptown Hub in Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave).

First and most important..pizza will be served. So if you could...please let us know if you will be attending so we have an idea for how much pizza to order. But..if you don't RSVP...don't let that stop you from coming. And please...pass this along to others who may be interested.

It is an exciting time in Long Beach and there are lots of topics to cover:

Beach Streets

Nate Baird, the City's Active Transportation Coordinator will talk about the upcoming Beach Streets event in Downtown Long Beach and how you be involved.Β This event, which builds on the success of last year's Uptown Long Beach, should be amazing. It will highlight Pine Ave and Broadway from Downtown to Belmont Heights with spurs to 4th street and RetroRow. Last year's event attracted over 25,000 participants. This year's should be bigger and better (is that possible...we will see).

Bike Uptown Hub At Houghton Park

In addition you will get a chance to see the exciting new "Hub" at Houghton Park. Danny Gamboa and crew have opened an new profit "bike kitchen" (Danny is that how you would describe it) in Houghton Park. Find out what this new facility is doing for Uptown Long Beach.

El Dorado Park Bike Racing

Bike racing at El Dorado Park starts its 35th year (or something to that effect) on Tuesday March 15th. There are Categories for juniors, entry level, to masters to the very experienced. We routinely get expros as well as former Olympians at the event. Come check out bike racing in Long Beach.

Bike Master Plan Update & Bike Share

The Long Beach Bike Master Plan is about to be updated and Bike Share is rumored to be launching soon. We will get Nate to give us a brief update on these two topics.

Upcoming Election

The Long Beach City Council elections are being held in April. We are working to get statements from each of the candidates on their priorities for biking and walking in Long Beach.

Walk Bike Long Beach, LACBC new chapter in Long Beach

Our good friends at the Los Angeles County Bike Coalition have opened a new chapter in Long Beach.

Round table

As always we will have a brief roundtable conversation to talk about topics that are on your mind.
